Elena Pavla: "I always listen to myself and my heart"

Elena Pavla is a DJ and producer who began her career in 2016, quickly rising to prominence in Moscow's electronic music scene. Her passion for music and drive to improve led her on international tours across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Elena's style blends peak techno and psy trance, with releases on labels like Heldeep Records and Natura Viva. She has also hosted the "Impuls" radio show since 2017, broadcasting on Beachgrooves and Who Electronic Radio.

Elena, you’ve performed in some of the most prestigious venues around the world, from Ibiza to London and beyond. Which club or festival has had the biggest impact on your artistic growth, and why?

I think my very first festival in 2016 in Italy. Because it was the turning point for me to start taking my hobby seriously.

As a label manager at Lemon-Aid Music, what do you look for in the artists and productions you select? How do you balance your roles as a DJ and a manager?

I haven't worked for this label for a long time. But I can say one thing, I was always interested in immersing myself not only in music, but also in understanding other processes in the music industry. When I selected and listened to the material, I always relied on the music and talent of the artist and always gave feedback (which is very important for artists).

Your sound encompasses various underground genres, such as tech house, techno, and deep house. How do you integrate these styles into your work, and what inspires your musical choices?

In fact, my sound has long evolved to techno and psytrance. I always listen to myself and my heart! I am not used to focusing on trends. It was always in my head: Every person is an instrument, and it sounds in its own way.

You started your career in 2016, but in just a few years, you’ve achieved international recognition. What have been the biggest challenges you've faced on this journey?

With the lack of information. I am from Moscow and I was one of the first who began to travel a lot around the world with tours. We do not have schools that tell how an artist should start his path, so I made a lot of mistakes (I do not regret them, they gave me invaluable experience). By the way, now I have opened my own online school, where I pump up artists and share my experience and I help make professionals out of them.

Looking ahead, are there any new musical directions or innovative projects you’re working on or hope to explore in the coming years?

Yes, I have many projects. For example: my school, my booking agency, my radio program and of course my tours. Now I am looking for a balance between being a mother and working. Because for me family is the most important and valuable thing. And I don't want to miss happy moments with my son. After all, they will not be repeated, I catch moments of happiness and do not forget to work on what I love.
