Haris Efstathiadis: "Hearing my tracks played by top DJs is incredible"
Haris Efstathiadis, born and raised in Ptolemaida, began his music career at age 15 as a DJ, performing at local cafes, bars, and clubs. A year later, he started hosting his own show on Radio City, focusing on rap and hip hop, but eventually transitioned to deep house, minimal, and tech. Over time, he became a guest at various events and worked at Viva 95.3 FM for four years, contributing to shows on multiple radio stations across Greece. Throughout his career, he hosted prominent figures in Greek electronica.
Your single "You Are" has received great feedback. What was the inspiration behind this track, and how did the collaboration with Sigma Pr come about?
The single "You Are" was a spur of the moment inspiration and an attempt to write something different from what i usually write. I'm very happy about the excellent comments it has received.
I want to experiment with different sounds as well. My collaboration with Sigma Pr wasn't just on "You are", we've collaborated on other tracks as well, he's also my label partner (Disguise Records, Disguise Tribe) as well as a very good friend.
"Rekviem" marks another milestone in your career. Can you tell us about the creative process behind this single and what sets it apart from your previous productions?
The creative process is more or less known and I follow it in all my tracks. Surely the main thing i need is time and inspiration to complete a project the way i want. In this particular one i wanted to keep some elements from the previous tracks and add some new ones like the piano in combination with the synth. What sets it apart i would say are the two different styles that "Rekviem" brings out from the rest.
Your career as a DJ and producer has taken you to both Greece and Cyprus. How have these experiences influenced your musical style and approach to production?
All of these experiences have only influenced me positively and it does me good, seeing the audience having fun with specific pieces of music i think makes my own work in production easier.
You’ve founded two labels, Disguise Records and Disguise Tribe, focusing on different genres. What are the challenges and rewards of managing record labels and working with emerging and established artists?
The challenges are many, when we hear a new work from a new producer and we appreciate that he has talent and we are confident in the result, it gives us motivation and at the same time the challenge to move forward with him with one and only goal: his upward trajectory within a few months. The benefit in such a situation is that we will be satisfied with the result and the faith we showed in the new producer to take his first steps. As for the established producers, the challenges and benefits are to meet their demands and to help new producers alongside them.
You’ve received support from internationally renowned artists like Solomun and Richie Hawtin. How does it feel to gain such recognition, and how has it influenced your growth as an artist?
The support from top names in music gives you the strength and joy to continue with even greater dedication. Having your tracks played by top DJs is something very beautiful and is a reward for the work you had given everything in the studio for many hours and days. There have been other great supports such as: John Creamer, Sam Paganini, Space Motion, John Digweed, Len Faki, Haze-m, Nick Varon, Kevin Yost, Enzo Sifferdi, Zoo Brazil, Roberto Palmero, Mata Jones, Tobias Hoppe and many others.
