Sphere Entertainment, the owners of the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, are planning to build a series of "mini-spheres" in various cities. These smaller structures will have a capacity of around 5,000 people. Although the project is still in development, the company is looking for host cities, keeping Las Vegas as the main location.
The new concept was born to address the challenges faced with the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. The original structure has generated high energy costs and logistical complexities, particularly due to the enormous LED screens. The costs of customizing visual effects for each event and managing such a large capacity have made it difficult to replicate the model in other cities.
The "mini-spheres" are expected to solve these issues by offering a similar experience but with a reduced capacity. With 5,000 seats, operational and energy costs would be lower, allowing for more efficient management and a greater variety of events, without sacrificing the innovative technology that made the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas famous.
These new arenas do not include the future Abu Dhabi Sphere, which will have a capacity of 17,500 people. However, the "mini-spheres" project represents a step toward more sustainable venues, capable of meeting the needs of modern cities by offering a more accessible alternative, while maintaining the innovation that made the Las Vegas model a success.
