Mattisix, derived from "Matti" (short for his name Matteo) and "six" for the six strings of his electric guitar, creates music that blends the organic warmth of the guitar with the depth of Deep House, Organic Techno, and Melodic Techno. His philosophy is to carve out his own path, merging electronic and organic sounds to craft a unique and immersive musical experience.
"Voyage Voyage" marks an important milestone in your musical journey, both as a single and as the launch of Mattisix Records. What inspired you to create this track and start your own label?
"Voyage Voyage" is a turning point for me, both as a track and as the foundation of Mattisix Records. Over the past year, I’ve realized how much the current music industry, even at its highest levels, can feel suffocating. When I submitted my music to some of the biggest labels, I kept hearing the same feedback: Your sound is too different; the guitar takes up too much space; you need to align more with the current trends.
The irony? These same labels, in interviews, constantly say they want something new and original. But in reality, the system favors those who are already part of the inner circle—those with big social media numbers or industry connections. It’s not about rejecting the feedback; I understand the game. But it’s clear that in this environment, true originality is often sidelined unless it’s coming from someone who’s already "accepted".
Rather than feel discouraged, I saw this as a call to action. Mattisix Records is my response. It’s a label for artists who want to break free from these invisible rules, for those who value music as a form of art, not just a product to fit into a trend. "Voyage Voyage" embodies this spirit—it’s a track that merges live instrument sounds with electronic energy in a way that feels honest and true to my vision.
I’m not here to complain about the system but to offer an alternative. Music should be about creating freely, without worrying whether it ticks the right boxes. With Mattisix Records, I want to build a space where artists can breathe again, where music is allowed to be as unique and unpredictable as the people who make it.
Your music stands out for blending organic sounds, like guitar, with electronic elements. How do you maintain a balance between these elements, and what does this fusion of warm guitar tones with deep genres like Deep House and Melodic Techno represent for you?
The Mattisix guitar sound is something I’ve developed over years of experimenting and refining. For me, it’s not just about playing the guitar—it’s about transforming it into something new. I’ll reverse notes, layer effects, or add textures until the sound feels completely fresh, sometimes even resembling a synth. Often, you wouldn’t even realize it’s a guitar unless I pointed it out.
In the studio, this fusion is about creating a unique identity—bridging the raw, expressive nature of live instruments with the vast, dynamic world of electronic music. It’s not a technical exercise in balance; it’s about letting each element find its place naturally. The guitar and electronic parts don’t compete; they coexist, telling different sides of the same story. This isn’t about chasing perfection—it’s about creating something real, something that resonates emotionally and texturally.
On stage, the guitar evolves further. I love improvising solos during my sets, bringing a human, spontaneous energy to the performance. Every show is different because I want the audience to feel like they’re part of a singular, unrepeatable moment. They’ve come for more than just music—they’ve come for an experience, and I aim to deliver something they can’t hear anywhere else.
Ultimately, this fusion of guitar and electronic elements represents the intersection of the tangible and intangible, where emotion and texture meet. It’s about pushing boundaries and proving that electronic music can still carry a raw, human touch that connects deeply with listeners.
In your musical journey, you've talked about "creating your own path." What have been the biggest challenges you've faced in defining your musical identity, and how have you managed to stay true to your vision?
Creating my own path has always been about staying true to my vision, even when it meant going against the grain. One of the biggest challenges has been resisting the pressure to conform to industry trends or follow a formula. Early on, I realized my musical ideas didn’t always fit within the expectations of the bands I played in or even the broader electronic music scene. But I’ve never been interested in fitting into a box.
At the same time, my faith has been a guiding force in my journey. I believe that the gifts and passions we have aren’t random—they’re meant to be developed and shared. This belief gives me the courage to stay authentic, even when the path feels uncertain. It’s about trusting the process, knowing that the right connections and moments will happen in their own time.
Staying true to my vision means creating music that feels necessary, not just marketable. Every track is an exploration of sound, emotion, and purpose. With Mattisix Records, I’ve built a space where I can fully embrace this journey and share it with others. For me, music is both an act of creation and a reflection of something greater—it’s a way to connect on a deeper, more spiritual level.
The idea of "journey" is central in your music, as suggested by the title of your single "Voyage Voyage." What kind of experience do you want your listeners to have when they dive into your tracks?
For me, music is a journey—an emotional, mental, and even spiritual exploration. With “Voyage Voyage,” I wanted to create a piece that invites listeners to step outside of their everyday lives and into a space where they can reflect, dream, or simply lose themselves.
I don’t want to dictate the experience; I believe every listener brings their own story to the music. Some may find a sense of escape, others a moment of clarity, and for some, it might evoke unexpected emotions.
That’s the beauty of a journey—it’s personal and different for everyone.
My goal is to craft tracks that resonate beyond the surface, offering depth and layers that reveal themselves with each listen. Whether you’re on a long drive, in a club, or simply lying on your couch with headphones, I want my music to take you somewhere—to spark a connection, a thought, or even a feeling of peace.
In a way, I see music as a form of companionship. It’s there to guide, comfort, or challenge you, depending on where you are in your own journey. If my tracks can create that kind of impact, then I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.
As an artist working between Belgium and Italy, how do these two cultural and musical environments influence your approach to production and the music scene? Are there elements from both that you feel particularly connected to in your sound?
My music is deeply influenced by the contrast between two very different worlds. From Sardinia, I carry the warmth of the sun, the intensity of the sea, and the island’s almost mystical energy. Sardinia is a place where everything feels alive, where time slows down, and every moment is filled with light and emotion. This shapes the soulful, melodic side of my music.
In Belgium, it’s a different story. The skies are often grey, the rain is constant, but the atmosphere is vibrant in its own way. Brussels is a city where cultures from around the world collide, creating something unique. It’s in this contrast—between Sardinia’s sunlight and Belgium’s grey skies—that I find inspiration. The melancholy of Belgium fuels the deeper, more introspective side of my music, while Sardinia’s energy brings warmth and vitality.
At the center of this fusion is my electric guitar, which bridges the emotional depth of live instruments with the expansive soundscapes of electronic music. The guitar adds a human touch, while the electronic elements provide structure and movement. Together, they create a sound that reflects my life—a blend of light and shadow, warmth and coolness, tradition and innovation.
Living between these two places has taught me that contrasts don’t have to clash; they can coexist and enrich each other. That’s the essence of my music—a journey through opposing forces, coming together to create something unique and powerful.
