Stefano, known as Vis:on, is an Italian melodic techno artist who began his musical journey in 2019. Drawing from a diverse array of genres—including the electronic sounds of the '80s and '90s, rock, and ambient music—Vis:on crafts a distinctive blend that transcends traditional boundaries. His continuous evolution as an artist reflects a relentless pursuit of innovative combinations of melodies and rhythms, aiming to transport listeners beyond the confines of the ordinary. For Vis:on, each idea emerges as a vision from the unknown, guiding his creative process and musical expression.
Your project Vis:on was born in 2019: what was the spark that led you to pursue this journey in electronic music?
I have been following Melodic House & Techno for more than 10 years, when it was not yet considered a musical genre.Needless to say, I approached the genre thanks to the refined and deep sound of Tale Of Us, Dj Tennis, Mind Against, etc. In 2017, I attended my first Afterlife party at Privilege Ibiza, and that’s where the spark ignited: I also wanted to recreate those sounds that transported your mind and soul to another dimension. Yes, I had a sort of vision.
Yes, I had a sort of vision.
Your new track "Alive" on Lelantus Records showcases your unique style. What was the inspiration behind this track, and how does it fit into your musical journey?
"Alive" was born in the studio while listening to some vocal drafts. As soon as I heard the right one, I got the inspiration to build the arrangement around it: first I wrote the melody, and then I developed the rest.It was a very fun and stimulating process in which I also extrapolated other drafts/ideas that you will hear very soon.
Your sound draws influences from the '80s and '90s electronic vibes, as well as rock and ambient music. How do you blend these styles in such a personal and innovative way?
It comes naturally to me: I like to blend a simple percussion that could be a "snare" or an '80s "clap", with a pop/rock vocal or phrases, combined with an ambient sound in the "break" of the track, which can be recorded from the external environment, like the sound of rain. I then add a melody with a current or old-fashioned electronic synth, depending on my tastes or what I’m listening to at that time. I want to thank my father for having made me listen to artists like Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Phil Collins, etc. since I was a child. They still inspire me today, eheheh.
When performing live, how do you choose the tracks to include in your setlist? Is there a particular approach or philosophy you follow to create a unique experience for the audience?
My sets are often composed of different tracks because I always try to bring something new to the audience. For example, in my sets, I also include Indie Dance, because many tracks reflect my vision and also make people dance. What I want to bring to the audience is a sound that starts by taking you into another dimension, then becomes a very lively journey, but in the end, it turns into a pleasant experience. It’s up to the people to interpret it and understand it.
Looking ahead, what are your upcoming projects and collaborations? Is there anything special that your fans can expect in the coming months?
In the next few months, I will have other releases, including some collaborations with artists with whom I immediately felt a particular connection, and with whom I worked with great pleasure.
I’m also thinking of surprising my followers in the next few days to thank them for all the support they have been giving me, but I can’t say more.
